As you are aware the market for recruiting and retaining great HGV driver talent in the UK remains challenging. At DRS we have been at the forefront of creating efficient process solutions for Agencies to onboard and manage drivers and their shifts with customers more efficiently than ever before and that's a mission I continue to drive forward with every day.
The Government with their consultation via DfT and DVSA around Driver CPC has now clearly signalled that driver focused e-learning is part of their long-term agenda (as it is across mainland Europe) and as such DRS has teamed up with Road Skills Online, the only CPD accredited e-learning available to UK HGV drivers, to offer a unique (go anywhere) product called The Driver Passport.
This allows drivers, individually, to have their own 'Passport' of Professional Development (PDP) and by completing the course of activity be able to use this as 12 hours of e-learning within the new DCPC when it goes through Parliament this year. In the meantime, the PDP allows drivers to demonstrate their own learning to prospective customers (saving you that job as well).
There are two crucial elements for any Agency taking The Driver Passport currently:
1. It delivers a signed off record of competence authorised by your client so that they know that they can validate performance wherever they see this driver again,
2. Due to the Driver Rewards programme alongside the Professional Development Plan element, each driver gets value savings (rewards) for using The Driver Passport benefits programme as they work (they can also allow their family members to use it too).
This will ensure drivers stay with you longer and are easy to re-employ if they leave and return.
